The Hope S. Mitchell Scholarship Fund was established by Clinton County Children & Youth and the Clinton County Housing Authority to honor the memory of their friend and colleague Hope Mitchell. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior of Clinton County who, like Hope, demonstrates kindness, love, and a deep willingness to take care of the people in our community.


About the Scholarship:

▪ Applicant must be a graduating senior who resides in Clinton County and lives in a household considered low-income based off the annual HUD income limits.

▪ Applicant must be attending a two- or

four-year college, trade school, or certification program and intends to pursue a career in the helping field.

▪ Applicant must submit a 2-3 page essay by March 22 and if selected, meet with the Scholarship Committee for an in-person interview.

▪ Recipient(s) will receive a one-time scholarship in the amount of $500.00.


About the Essay:

Hope was loved by her friends, family and colleagues for her heart of gold. Hope treated every person she met with dignity and kindness, believing each person had significance and possessed a purpose they were meant to achieve. Connecting with and advocating for others was a natural gift that Hope possessed. In your 2-3 page essay, please explain any Social Work or helping profession related clubs and activities you are involved with and why you chose that group or activity, as well as the benefits you gained from being involved. Please also elaborate on how your experiences are influencing your educational plans or choice of major in college. Lastly, upon completion of the educational program, college, or certification you choose to pursue, please describe what job you would like to obtain and how you hope to make a positive impact in that community.


How to Apply: Please email your essay, unofficial transcript, and copy of your household’s 2023 IRS 1040 to Melissa Bottorf, Executive Director at keystonecentralfoundation@gmail.com by MARCH 22, 2024 for consideration.
